We chose Shell Island resort as the backdrop of our wedding for multiple reasons. We had a lot of guests coming in from out of town who would need a place to stay and wouldn't have transportation readily available. The guest rooms offered by Shell Island Resort were spacious, comfortable clean, fully-stocked with amenities and all offer an ocean view. The reception room is the only one on Wrightsville Beach with an ocean view, an important feature when you are having a beach wedding. The room is tactfully, yet simply decorated to allow for easy alteration of the space for any theme you desire. The staff helped us to coordinate our wedding ceremony on the beach outside of the hotel and offered accomodation changes in case of rain (luckily we did not need to use the back-up plan!). The resort staff were friendly and prompt in responses to questions or concerns we had about any aspect of our day. There was a diverse menu offering and catering was provided by the resort, so we did not have to find a separate caterer. The cost of our final wedding reception package was very reasonably priced and included almost everything we wanted. The tab for the bar was separate, but based on our research, this is standard practice. The resort offers a swimming pool, gift shop and restaurant as well. This is a great option for a destination wedding. If you are looking for a reasonably priced beach wedding, look no further!
