I have never been one for big and fancy weddings, but a friend of mine got married at the Drury Lane Theatre and Conference Center in Oakbrook, Illinois, and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever attended. I was actually a bridesmaid and also helped her with planning the wedding. In terms of the wedding planning, the thing I loved about Drury Lane is they will give you as much or as little help as you need. In our case, my friend didn't hire an independent wedding planner, so the Drury Lane staff stepped in to guide us through the process. We had a guest list of 250 people, but also had a budget. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and made themselves available to answer all of the questions. The preferred date wasn't available, but we were able to book the second choice date. We had both the wedding and the reception at the Drury Lane. The decorations for the wedding were handled by the venue and that was at an extra cost. It was well worth it too. The food was wonderful too and it was fresh--Salmon and chicken were the two menu options we chose. The best thing about the food was that it didn't taste like it was prepared in bulk. The wedding cake was also catered through the venue and it was delicious as well! The location really gave us the most options for the type of event the bride wanted to have. It would have been a lot more expensive to have the event in the city. Oakbrook is about 30 or so minutes drive from downtown Chicago, so all of the guests were still able to get there with no problem. Also there was plenty of guest parking, so no worries there either. All in all, I think Drury Lane is a great option for a fancy wedding without completely breaking the bank.
Little girls dream of being a princess on their wedding day and with Drury Lane, that dream can become a reality. As you enter the venue flanked by tall white pillars and a beautifully lit alcove, you know you are in a special place. The lobby features a restaurant surrounded by flowing water and beautiful flowers. Double doors open onto an extensive long hallway perfect for cocktails and appetizers while your guests mingle comfortably. There are several double doors past the cocktail area which open into the breathtaking grand hall. Here is where you truly feel that you are in a magical world. Our wedding reception held over 500 guests and they were all taken away by the rich tapestry colors of burgundy and gold and the castle like feeling. I truly felt like a princess that night. If anyone is looking for a special place for their most special day, you do not have to look further than Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. It is a dream come true venue!
