We are proud to be located in one of the most beautiful of Los Angeles’ Historic Cultural Monuments, the original home of John Steven McGroarty and his wife, Ida. The McGroarty house, built in 1923, stands as a memorial to the artist’s life of creativity and public service. Surrounded by acres of native chaparral, the McGroarty House is truly a monument to its time. Original wood furnishings and cabinetry, beautiful archways and tile floors accentuate this unique and magical place. Our upstairs Library contains an exhibit honoring the life of John Steven McGroarty and his great works. Artifacts of his illustrious career as well as his home life are on display for public viewing. Every inch of McGroarty Arts Center speaks to the home’s history and the Center’s vibrant spirit of creativity.
