The Sunset Terrace, a small patio just outside the Wright family’s living quarters, leads out onto the Prow. The Prow is a beautiful terrace overlooking the Valley of the Sun, a view Wright likened to “standing on the rim of the world”. There is no better view in the Valley than the Prow at sunset. Designed for entertaining, the Cabaret Theatre is made of desert masonry walls, partially sunk below grade. Opened in 1957, the Music Pavilion was the last structure that Frank Lloyd Wright oversaw at Taliesin West. Your guests will be surrounded by a symphony of red – the seats, curtains, and carpeting all pay tribute to what Wright believed to be one of the life-giving colors of creation. The theatre’s interior includes a series of curtained backdrops that can be arranged to change the depth of the stage and a beautiful mural, intended for Midway Gardens in Chicago, depicting an abstraction of the Chicago skyline. This multi- functional hall continues to be used for concerts, parties, and public meetings.
