La Chene is nestled in a rural forest area north of Santa Clarita on Sierra Highway. It is a rare thing to find a good French restaurant and this rock faced building is filled with Ambiance De La Francois. It has a beautiful garden area that is ideal for weddings and photographs with a railed balcony overlooking it all directly off the main room. There are rustic archways and waterwheels snuggled into a grassy tree filled area. It can accomodate both large and small events with grace, elegance, and style that France is so well known for. Having eaten there several times, I can say the food is excellent and the staff amiable and helpful. They offer the best selection of imported French wines I have found in Los Angeles, including my personal favorite of St. Emilion which is a rich bordeaux from the Chateau Croix de Labrie. My daughter has planned her wedding to be held here this spring and the owners have been very cordial. The down side is the cake. They are not able to do the wedding cake for her, not because they refuse but because they only have one cake that they make there and she did not care for the taste. Now we have to find someone to bring the wedding cake to this beautiful rural setting and if that is the worst we face then the rest is ... well? A piece of cake!
