Irvin Schoolhouse is an 800 square foot schoolhouse built in 1925. It has been completely renovated, and is currently used as a small wedding venue. It is also rented for showers, birthday parties, receptions, meetings, etc. Included in the rental fee are 50 soft white or gray Chiavari ballroom chairs and 10 tables.
Upon entering the schoolhouse you are greeted with a wall of huge windows (which capture beautiful Kentucky sunsets). The schoolhouse still has its original beautiful oak hardwood floors, as well as the original bead board walls and ceilings (all painted a soft white). Hanging from the high 14' ceiling in the main room are four large and dimable wagon wheel chandeliers. Add all this together and the stage is set for a beautiful, intimate wedding. Also, outside is a 150 year old school bell, which is rung by the newlyweds to announce their union.
The schoolhouse is handicap accessible, including a handicap accessible restroom plus an additional restroom. It does have HVAC heating and air. There is also a small kitchenette to store food and beverages.
The schoolhouse sits on 13 acres of farmland, therefore there is plenty of room for an outside wedding. We do not rent tents, but you are more than welcome to rent them from a rental company and have them set up on the land.
We also have a 100 year old 3 bed/2 bath farmhouse (Gran's Place) on the land that can be rented. It has a living room, a den, a dining room, and a kitchen that has everything one needs to prepare a meal. The house is the perfect place for the bride and the bridesmaids to get ready, and there are plenty of places for the groom and groomsmen to hang out as well. The farmhouse also has a large front porch (of course with a porch swing and rocking chairs), a deck with string lights, and directly from the deck is a fire pit surrounded with Adirondack chairs. Both the schoolhouse and the farmhouse can be rented as part of a wedding weekend package.
A 12x40 outside patio with string lights was added Spring 2023 for outdoor dining/ reception area alongside the schoolhouse.
The property is located within city limits of Russell Springs, Ky, and is just a few miles from Lake Cumberland, Columbia, Somerset, Nancy, and Liberty, Ky.
