The Rockland House was established in 1865 as a hotel for summer guests. Vacationers came from miles around with their steamer trunks for relaxing sojourn, taking in the fresh mountain air and eating the bounty of fresh vegetables from the Rockland House's own garden.
Visitors come to the Rockland House today for the same reasons they have come for over a century.
