About South Carolina Prison Proxy & Phone Wedding Ministers

The 1987 US Supreme Court ruling (Turner vs Safley) declared that marriage is a fundamental right and inmates don't need permission to get married, I need a call from the fiancee, not the inmate seven days a week from 8 AM to 9 PM at our Virginia number or (After 7 PM ONLY at our Utah number) to discuss details and the process as well as your options such as phone weddings, zoom weddings, proxy marriages in different states, and what states to obtain the marriage license and get married thru, and the fiancee then explains the process to the inmate. I am aware of the confusion and misinformation on the internet especially from lawyers, Court Websites, DOC Website, Online Ministers, Proxy Marriage Information. South Carolina Prisons Will NOT approve inmate marriages and deny fiancee visits and licenses won't be issued since both parties can't come together to obtain the marriage license and/or the inmate does not have all required documents, and the best option is notary with the inmate and another affidavit notarized by the fiancee and notary and the marriage license is mailed and the ceremony is performed by phone. Virginia doesn't require the inmate presence with the fiancee at the time of the Wedding as approved by the Virginia Attorney General memo. Virginia law allows the two parties to the marriage and the Officiant being in three different locations as long as the ceremony is performed in Virginia, or the Kansas non-affidavit Proxy option. Those that say you can always get an online marriage license from another State: THAT IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE since the inmate ID is not always acceptable and is rejected by the Scanner! Beware of the scam of Online Ministers who tell you that they can get you married for $500 but never explain how to get a Marriage License. The Chaplain and Warden don't need to give approval since the marriage is performed remotely and this is confirmed by several South Carolina Prisons, since the US Supreme Court has approved these marriages and given their permission as well as the US Attorneys Office. We are flooded with calls so make sure you leave a voice message if the voice mail comes on! Calls are from US numbers only! Rev. Byron Sichert, the top regional and remote Wedding Minister since 1983 (10 states), and his staff, perform SC Correctional Facility Weddings, and will discuss the details on how to get your marriage to finally happen! Can SC Prison and Jail inmates get married? The Answer is YES unless both are incarcerated. Call me about license and how we can get the ceremony performed remotely! Forget what the Prisons tell you about not being allowed to get married in a SC Prison! We have it in writing that all inmates have permission from the US Supreme Court to get married! We can discuss how marriage licenses have been obtained from another state and how marriage ceremonies have been performed remotely since Virginia does not require all parties to be in that State at the time of the Ceremony. South Carolina Officiants cannot perform your marriage ceremony if they are not authorized by a Virginia Circuit Court. Our non -refundable consultation fee is only $100, and we will discuss courthouse fees and other possible fees. Don't give up now and give us a chance to help get you and your fiance married! Talk to us first before you talk to anyone else! The US DOJ is aware of this situation and our process! The US Supreme Court has approved and gave their permission to all inmate marriages. We perform non-religious, semi-religious, and Christian ceremonies. We have spoken to the US Attorney's Office and informed them that we are doing remote marriages thru another State. If you are told by the Correctional Facility that you cannot get married, I need the name and title of the person you spoke to so I can report them to the US Attorney's Office. Each fiancee must contact the US Attorney's Office to let them know the Correctional Facility will not approve the marriage.

We Never Gave Up - An Eventective User from Columbia, South Carolina

We explored many options before we finally talked to Rev. Byron after speaking to several lawyers, as well as DOC people. The only way we figured you can't get married is if both parties are incarcerated. Luckily, I am not incarcerated! Rev. Byron explained the entire process of getting married thru another State. The US Supreme Court, the US Attorney General, and the South Carolina US Attorneys Office have approved and gave permission to all Inmate Marriages. So we finally made it happen! Don't talk to anyone else since he knows all the ways to get you married and the most cost effective. Regina and Walt

The Perfect Processes - An Eventective User from Columbia, South Carolina

Thanks to Rev. Byron he has options thru 2 different states to get all of the inmates married. If the inmate and fiance/fiancee can't talk to each other then the Kansas Option is utilized . If they can talk to each other, then the Virginia option is utilized. It is great that all South Carolina inmates can be married thru an easy inexpensive process! Janice and Rick

Rev. Byron Solved the Problem - An Eventective User from Columbia, South Carolina

I applied to get visitation approval to see my fiance and that form is fictitious since only relatives are allowed in to see inmates. The South Carolina DOC website says the inmate can fill out a form requesting a marriage ceremony and the Warden will approve it. Of course that is also fictitious since only relatives are allowed in to see inmates. Rev. Byron discussed the Virginia option and the Kansas Option with us and we were finally able to get married. Tara and Derek

The Kansas Option Worked Great - An Eventective User from Kershaw, South Carolina

Thanks to Rev. Byron we finally got married! The Virginia option didn't work because we couldn't get a notary approved to get the affidavit signed and notarized. We did have success with the Kansas Option since they allow proxy marriage in the event that one party is not able to be available at the time of the ceremony. They also require 2 witnesses. Everything was great! Tayla and Reggie

Very Helpful - An Eventective User from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Rev. Byron was so helpful with discussing the options to get us married since my fiancee is in a South Carolina Correctional Facility. Since we can't get the Virginia Affidavit notarized and I can't talk to my fiancee, he recommended the State of Kansas that allows Single Proxy Marriage with me being in Kansas for the ceremony with two witnesses. Regina and Chris

All of our questions were answered! - An Eventective User from Columbia, South Carolina

Rev. Byron and I discussed all possible marriage options to see which ones would be possible to finally get married to my fiancee in a South Carolina Correctional Facility. Rev. We Got the Help We Needed - An Eventective User from Kershaw, South Carolina

Thanks for Help From the Feds - An Eventective User from Ridgeville, South Carolina

Rev. Byron was just who I needed to speak to and he referred me to Johanna at the South Carolina US Attorney's Office. Georgia Jail Wedding - An Eventective User from Columbus, Georgia

Everyone knows that you can't get married in a Georgia Correctional Facility since they won't take the inmate to the courthouse when the bride is there, and I just found out from a friend of mine that South Carolina has the same problem. Thanks to Rev. Byron and notaries we were able to get a form from another state notarized so we could get married thru another state with a phone Wedding. Marilyn and Wes

Georgia Prison Marriage Finally Happened - An Eventective User from Macon, Georgia

Thanks to Rev. Byron we were married remotely by phone by getting an affidavit notarized from another State which does not require the inmate to be in that State at the time of the Ceremony. We finally had a Georgia Prison Wedding - An Eventective User from Atlanta, Georgia

Thanks to Rev. Byron for making our marriage happen. The Wardens won't approve the marriages and won't take the inmate to the courthouse when the fiancee is there so no marriage license can be obtained. The only way to get married was get our notary into the prison to get an affidavit form from another state notarized and the original form back to the fiancee to get the marriage license. The inmate does not have to be in that state at the time of the Wedding. We had a nice phone Wedding. Takia and Erik

We figured out how to get our marriage done - An Eventective User from Chesterfield, South Carolina

We are so excited that we called Rev. Byron and he told us the same thing several lawyers told us so we were able to get the marriage license in another state where the ceremony does not require everyone to be in that state at the time of the ceremony. We sent a notary to the prison to get a form notarized, and I did the same thing with my form. We sent them to that courthouse with the appropriate fees, and the notarized forms, and they mailed the marriage license to Rev. Byron and we had a remote ceremony. It went wonderful! Kita and Glenn

What a relief to talk to Rev. Byron about proxy weddings. Several lawyers recommended states that offer proxy weddings but the law does not allow my fiance and I to do that type of ceremony. Thanks again for telling us how to get married! Terri and DeAndre

Wonderful Remote Wedding - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

Bob, and I are so glad that Rev. Byron was able to perform our marriage ceremony. All ceremonies are performed remotely so that guests from everywhere can witness the ceremony by phone or online. Rev. Byron charges $100 for a real marriage ceremony, which is a great relief knowing that the other area Officiants charge $500 for a I minute ceremony, with no guests. Robin and Bob

The Best in Virginia Zoom/Phone Weddings - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

We are so glad we got Rev. Byron to officiate our Wedding remotely. The other Roanoke Officiants average $500 for a1 minute ceremony and you can't have all of your guests there. Rev. Byron does a full ceremony and you can have all your guests with you, on Zoom, or phone. Don't make the mistake of getting stuck with a $500 Officiant for a 1 minute ceremony. Takia and Zach

Thankful for Online Weddings - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

The Right Officiant - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

Bob, and I are so glad that we got Rev. Byron to perform our ceremony and it was wonderful. We had people on the phone from different parts of the country. We appreciated Rev. Byron emailing the memo from the Commonwealth of Virginia verifying the legality of phone and zoom Weddings. The other Officiants who charge $500 and up for less than 5 minute ceremonies all said that Zoom and Phone Weddings are not legal, but the Commonwealth of Virginia says that they are. Thanks, Rev. Byron Brittany and Bob

A Complete Ceremony for an Affordable Fee - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

Thank God we found Rev. Byron who performed a beautiful ceremony for us. It was well worth the wait since he is extremely busy because he performs almost all the Civil Ceremonies in the Roanoke area because other Officiants don't do what is required and charge ridiculous fees! Two of my friends met an Officiant who simply signed the license without performing the required ceremony, and my sister and her husband had an Officiant who rushed thru a one minute ceremony and only allowed a handful of guests. Rev. Byron emailed us the memo where the Virginia Attorney General declared that Zoom and Phone Weddings have always been legal in Virginia. Thanks, Rev. Byron. Karen and Patrick

Virginia New Year Wedding - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

Thank God for the Commonwealth of Virginia memo indicating that Zoom and Phone Weddings are Legal in Virginia. Too many people get wrong information from Circuit Courts who tell you what they think is right rather than what is right. The phone wedding worked perfect for us and we had a beautiful ceremony as well.

Doing it the Virginia Way - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

Thanks to Rev. Byron and Virginia for helping us do our wedding. My partner had to leave Virginia right after we got our marriage license to care for a sick family member and we knew he would not be able to come back for our wedding which could not be rescheduled. We were lied to by other Virginia Ministers and Virginia Courts who said he and the minister had to be present for the wedding. We also were lied to by Utah Ministers who told us we had to get a Utah license and get married by a Utah minister. Thank God we spoke to Rev. Byron who sent us the memo citing the Virginia Attorney General that said that my partner and our minister could be elsewhere and we can do a Zoom, etc or Phone Wedding. Rev. Byron performed a beautiful ceremony and we are so glad we listened! Tara and Travis

Thanks Rev. Byron - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

We wanted to thank Rev. Byron for being there for us and doing our civil ceremony and Elopement . When we obtained our marriage license in Roanoke, Virginia we had no idea that all the other Officiants were charging $500 or more for quick, rushed ceremonies with no guests allowed. With Rev. Byron the fee is always $100 and all guests are allowed. Rev. Byron has been the top rated regional wedding minister for forty years so you also get the best Officiant.

Roanoke Phone Wedding - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

Thanks to the expertise of Rev. Byron we did a phone wedding since my partner was unable to come to the States because of a health setback and poor connection. The Right Way To Go - An Eventective User from Roanoke, Virginia

We learned so much from Rev. Byron when he sent us the email citing the Virginia Attorney General. Knowing that Rev. Byron was able to marry us remotely made our day so much easier since we couldn't go to him and he couldn't come to us. We got married via a video call and we also included family and friends. For only $100 Rev. Byron performed a wonderful ceremony. Other officiants in our area wanted $500 for a five minute ceremony which is ridiculous! Thank You Rev. Byron. Nikki and Ricky

China Wedding thru Utah - An Eventective User from Beijing, China

My partner and I made the best decision of our lives by getting married in Utah through the Utah County Online Electronic Marriage License Process. We along with our two witnesses and guests were allowed to be anywhere since our officiant was in Utah. Utah was our only hope since our marriage could not occur legally in China.

Thank God for Utah! - An Eventective User from Washington, DC

Sherry and I planned on a DC judge marrying us by ZOOM but when we found out there is a three month wait for a marriage license and appt , we contacted Rev. Byron who directed us to the remote license option thru Utah County Utah and since the officiant was in Utah we and our two witnesses could be anywhere , and I can't travel because of health reasons. Thanks, Derek and Sherry!

Utah was the best option - An Eventective User from Colombus. Ohio

Since my partner and I were both injured in an auto accident and unable to leave our home without undue hardship, we did the Utah County Utah online electronic marriage license. With Rev. Byron in Utah and family and friends scattered through out the world, we had a much better wedding than a judge could ever do;

Thankful for a Minister - An Eventective User from Alexandria, Virginia

Thanks to Rev. Byron for his knowledge of the law. Robert and I had our wedding scheduled for months, and a week before the wedding, Robert had to fly to Maine to deal with the health issues of his mother. We started to panic, but Rev. Byron showed us the law that indicates that both parties are not required to be together during the ceremony. So we Zoomed Robert in on the Big Screen, and did a COVID style wedding! There is no way we could cancel the wedding and loose all that money! Rev. Byron was a life saver! Carla and Robert

Great Alternative - An Eventective User from Birmingham, Alabama

Great Venue Wedding - An Eventective User from Memphis, Tennessee

Customized ZOOM Ceremony - An Eventective User from Rockville, Maryland

Tobias and I were looking for the flexibility of a specially written ZOOM ceremony with a interfaith wording as well as certain family members participating in the ceremony. Rev Byron Sichert was indeed the best among ZOOM Wedding Ministers by allowing us to do everything we wanted to do, unlike the other officiants! All of the other officiants said they used their standard ceremony. We were not going to have a standard ceremony, like the courthouse, so Rev Byron make sure it was just what we wanted. Many Thanks, Kim and Tobias

Judge not available for our Day - An Eventective User from Columbus, Ohio

We had a very traumatic situation when my then fiancee, Grant became ill out of state right before our wedding date. We checked with our officiant, Rev. No Need To Wait For A Judge - An Eventective User from Charles Town, West Virginia

It was much easter to have everyone invited to a ZOOM wedding, rather than waiting for a judge at the courthouse with our family not there. Thanks, Rev. Byron for the great ceremony! Ralphael and Tabitha

Thankful for a Minister - An Eventective User from Birmingham, Alabama

Since Alabama no longer requires marriage ceremonies and the courts don't have anyone to perform marriage ceremonies, we looked for and found Rev. Byron Sichert to perform our ceremony.
