The Depot structure was relocated from Union Station to Thompson’s Point when the station was torn down in the early 1960’s. It has since been improved with added structural reinforcement, a new roof, new floor, electricity, and new paint. Dubbed the “Depot Pavilion”, the structure is approximately 1/3 of the original size when it was located at Union Station and stands at 14,000 SF. The Pavilion serves as the gateway to a premiere outdoor waterfront event area encompassing nearly 3.3 acres in size with the mouth of the Fore River on 3 of the 4 sides. Eventually, the Depot Pavilion will have improvements including informational environmental signage, access to water, a seasonal dock, Portland trails pocket park, permanent concessions and bar building, expanded grass area, paved parking and more.

We are excited to be part of artist Sam van Aken’s groundbreaking project. Part art, part agricultural preservation, The Tree of 40 Fruit grows over 40 different types of stone fruit including peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and almonds. Sculpted through the process of grafting, the trees blossom in variegated tones of pink, crimson, and white in spring— in summer they bear a multitude of fruit. Primarily composed of native and antique stone fruit varieties, the trees are a form of conservation, preserving heirloom stone fruit varieties that are not commercially produced or available. Ours is the only Tree of 40 Fruit grove in the World and invite you to come experience this unique agricultural feat.
