I live in Kennebunk, but have lived in Portland and even on Peaks Island( a populated island off the coast of Portland reached regularly on the Casco Bay Ferry lines). So when my mother's 70th birthday was coming up and my brothers and sister were trying to decide what special event we could plan for her, I thought of the Casco Bay lines. I know she loves to travel by boat. She loves the cruise out to the Isles of Shoals out of Portsmouth NH, and I knew that the Casco line had special trips for special events. I had actually seen one while standing on the Easter Prom in Portland. So we booked a party on one of the ships for September and it was the best choice we could have made. The airport is about 2 miles from the line and it was very easy for my brother and his family to fly back from California, drive to the boat terminal and join the family. The food was great, and there was a bar set up for the drinkers. Even the kids had a good time. We have a large family( my mother has 14 siblings) and the boats was easily able to care for our group of 100. They can carry up to 275 I'm told. The party was catered and the food was server hot and tasty. The boat was also handicap accessible. My dad, who is 80, needed this feature as he has some trouble navigating stairs. Overall I would say that the party was a huge success and to the delight of all, my mother was very happy and touched by the efforts we made for her as well as how she was personally treated by the staff.
