This state and national landmark has been carefully renovated and is ready for its encore. The Attucks Theater was built in 1919 as a mecca for entertainment and commerce, strategically located on Church Street, the heart of the city's minority community. Today, the Attucks has the distinction of being the oldest remaining legitimate theater in the nation that was completely financed, designed, constructed and operated by African-Americans. We invite you to celebrate this vibrant new stage in the rich cultural legacy of the Attucks Theater, once again a mecca for world-class arts and entertainment for the enjoyment of all.
