We got married at The Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan on Madison Avenue in Manhattan's Upper East Side overlooking Central Park, last spring. We were drawn to this particular site because of its pristine reputation of hosting fabulous weddings and events since the 30's. Also, this lovely locale is a prominent landmark and we wanted to treat our out-of-state guests to a true NY experience. I warned my mom-in-law that she should be on the lookout for celebs as this place is known to have a few make appearances. The amenities at The Carlyle are unsurpassed; we were amazed at the service of the concierge, valet, even a secretarial service while we were guests! They offer twice-daily maid service, 24 hour room service, 24 hours security, and a white-gloved elevator attendant- again, above and beyond most luxury hotels. The Carlyle Galleries is a must-see- it overlooks Madison Avenue, and had several collections of old antiques and paintings that kept our guests entertained and impressed. The Sense Spa is full-service and the Yves Durif Salon made it their top priority to cater to my wedding party. The girls who stood up for me could not believe what service we rec'd while guests at The Carlyle. The most impressive feature at The Carlyle was the fact that they are very dog-friendly. I would never even consider a ceremony where my beloved dog Francis could not attend. The Carlyle made sure that he had a warm, toasty doggy bed, offered snacks and bottled water, and have a fee-for-service dog walking offering. It was so wonderful! We were all able to enjoy the day knowing that Francis was well-attended. Really rare, actually. As for the food, it was top notch. The menu was focused on fresh and in-season ingredients- we tried and LOVED the Dover Sole! You really must try it! Our guests dined on Lobster Thermidor and it rec'd rave reviews. I would encourage anyone considering NYC and The Carlyle to get in touch with their special wedding planners- they took care of everything right down to the last detail and made it a worry-free affair for me and my hubby.
