Bean Dreaming in Myrtle Beach is an initiative by a local non-profit called SOS Care. We are a direct service provider that empowers those with Autism and other Intellectual Disabilities to thrive on their own. One way we do this is through our Employment Services Division. SOS Care has a beautiful state-of-the-art Coffee Truck called Bean Dreaming. I am the coordinator of Bean Dreaming and I wanted to tell you all about what we do. On the Bean Dreaming Coffee Truck we take a hands-on approach to teaching adults with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities job skills that deliver confidence and will last through a lifetime of independence. Each participant will be an intern on the Bean Dreaming Coffee Truck for either 3 or 6 months depending upon need. From there, they will be assisted to go on to a paying job. On the truck there are many jobs. Bean Dreaming is a full-service Barista truck, where they learn the ins and outs of making coffee, latte, espresso and more as well as side work at the beginning and completion of their shift, however, as you likely know there is much more that goes into running a business such as marketing, bookings and social media, inventory, keeping the truck beautiful and spotless and much more. We aim to allow our interns to learn all they can during their internship. To do all this we need one major thing. Bookings! Bean Dreaming does events such as festivals, farmers markets, and other events where individuals purchase their own beverages from us, but we also do private events such as weddings, birthdays, family reunions and more. In addition, we do corporate/business owner sponsored events where we are booked as a special thank you for employees, clients, etc. Some companies invite us out monthly, even bi-weekly or more.
