My husband and I recently got married in October of 2011. We chose to have our reception at the Grand Hotel Ballroom in downtown McKinney. It is located right on the McKinney Square and offers guests great places to shop and eat while they are in town for your wedding. We were first attracted to the Ballroom because of its beauty and unique look. We had a vintage wedding theme and the ballroom, which used to be an old opera house, was perfect. It had gorgeous chandeliers, pressed tin ceilings and a gorgeous brick wall with windows overlooking the square. The event coordinators at are top notch as well. They helped with the planning of the wedding from day one and made sure that everything ran smoothly the day of. They were always available when I had questions and putting my mind at ease during the hectic planning process. Rick's Chophouse, which is also on the square, does all the catering for the Ballroom. We had a plated dinner and gave our guests the choice of chicken or steak. We received so many compliments, many saying it was the best food they had ever had at a restaurant. Several of our guests plan to return to Rick's restaurant because they liked it so much. The meal price was comparable to other venues we had looked at, but there was no comparison in the quality. We were able to have a seated dinner for the same price that other venues charged to do buffet stations. Overall, we could not have been more pleased with how our wedding turned out. It was perfect!!
