The over 4000 square feet shelter with restrooms and adjacent catering space is covered with broad beams arranged to mimic the distinctive bark of the Honey Locust trees Locust Grove is named for. Limestone chevrons on the western wall echo the angles in the trees and recall the importance of limestone in this area. The pavilion is 60’x 80’ and includes ample electrical outlets, lighting and fans. The uninterrupted space in the pavilion is 50’ x 80’, great for wedding receptions of up to 250 guests, or even for a smaller wedding and reception in one space.

Locust Grove’s 55 rolling acres of fields, gardens and orchards, a restored historic area and lawns are a peaceful oasis just minutes from downtown Louisville. Locust Grove’s quadrant garden offers four open air spaces with the privacy of a room. With walls of shrubs and bushes, each has about 75’ x 75’ of lawn inside and lots of dappled shade for ceremonies or receptions. The two nearest the visitor center will accommodate 60’ x 40’ tents with about 150 for a seated dinner, without a tent, up to 250 can be seated. Tented or untented, memorable receptions are the rule at Locust Grove. Alée At the center of the quadrant gardens, the alée is a popular wedding ceremony location. A walkway of Viburnam and Sweetbay Magnolia line the path to the aisle, the perfect frame for photos of guests and the bride alike. The 200’ dogwood-lined alee provides a broad expanse of grass with a view of Locust Grove’s historic house museum. Ceremony space is about 30’ x 60’, or space for around 250 theater-style. Reception space is about 30’ x 200’ and comfortably seats anywhere from 25-500 people for dinner.

The north wing of the visitor center leads to Locust Grove’s indoor event space. Named for one of Locust Grove's most memorable visitors, the Audubon room has a working fireplace flanked by two sets of French doors that lead to the gardens. Adjacent kitchen and restrooms make the room a convenient as well as attractive reception area. At 34’ x 54’, it is spacious enough to seat up to 150 for dinner, 130 for wedding reception, or host more than 200 for a cocktail party.
