The Los Angeles Natural History Museum is one of the most unique but incredible places I've ever attended a wedding. Yes, the same museum we visited as children on school field trips, dinosaur fossils and all! While they only do this on the side, it's a normal museum during the day, your wedding party can take over the museum for the entire wedding late into the night. Roam freely and enjoy the exhibits and many unique photo opportunities. How many wedding venues include a photo spot right in front of a T. Rex? The reception was held in the remodeled rotunda, a stunning room that was part of the original museum built in 1913. The rotunda is breathtaking and made entirely of marble. It's a large space, as this party had over 300 attendees. Less formal parties, we heard, can even be held in the African Mammal Hall or North American Mammal Hall, offering exotic backdrops for memorable events. The acoustics are great for music and there's an excellent, gleaming dance floor. This is a great family-friendly wedding venue that isn't too stuffy but is still very classy. After you attend a wedding at the Natural History Museum, any other wedding venue just seems so tame and boring. If you're bold and daring, this is a great place to consider for a wedding venue in Los Angeles!
Growing up with a background in the arts, I was inspired to have a creative wedding. You often hear of the typical church wedding, but our wedding at The National History Museum of Los Angeles was anything but. The museum catered to every one of your needs including security, staffing, and maintenance. You also had access to many galleries for photography purposes which put a special touch on those imporant photos. Although the entire museum isn't available for the actual wedding they do offer you use of The Grand Foyer, the African Mammal Hall, and the beautiful Rotunda. One thing that especially caught our attention was the 1-year VIP membership the museum gives newlyweds for having their ceremony there. You can use that membership not just at the National History Museum but at other museums in the partnership. We had our cocktail hour in the Grand Foyer and dinner at the African Mammal Hall. This venue was the best part of the whole wedding process. There aren't enough good things My wife and I are real science dorks so it seemed fitting to have our reception under a pair of dinosaurs. We loved the venue so much, we added dinosaurs into our wedding theme (as cake toppers). Our guests were amazed by the reception. It's just awesome to have the whole first floor of the museum to yourselves. However, my wife and I were allowed to go anywhere in the museum... so we took really cool photos next to the exhibits. Absolutely amazing, and highly recommended.
