Me and a friend were planing to throw a birthday party for another of our pals. We kicked around the idea of doing a BBQ our selves but after the dreadful thoughts of the planning, shopping, cooking, and the mess that we would have to clean afterwards we decided to look into having it catered. We were pointed in the direction of The soup Spoon Cafe and custom catering. From the initial contact we had with chef Nick who is both the owner and the chef we knew we had the right guy for the job. The menu was simple BBq ribs, chicken, sausages, some slow roasted pork shoulder and of course the traditional side dishes, slaw bbq beans, watermelon and the must have sweet tea. All of the food was expertly prepared. The ribs were fall of the bone. The pork smokey and tender and not overwhelmed with sauce like most tend to do. The beans couldn't have been done better by an old southern woman who had all day to prepare them. Even after all the food was saved and the guests were done gorging themselves chef Nick and a few of his helpers cleaned up and left our backyard tidier than when they found it. One thing is for certain, the next party i decide to have catered The Soup Spoon Cafe will be the first on my list to call.
