About Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County

The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County owns the historic Sehner-Ellicott-von Hess house located in downtown Lancaster, PA at 123 N. Prince Street . The house is right in the prime part of downtown close to restaurants and theaters. The house was built in 1787 for Andrew Ellicott who was the first US Surveyor General who helped map the western territories and DC. Ellicott taught Meriwether Lewis surveying techniques in this very house for the Lewis & Clark Expedition. The Historic Preservation Trust was formed in 1966 in order to protect the house from demolition during construction of the Prince Street Garage (located right next door) and we are proud to still own this beautifully historic home today. The event space we offer is the first floor (front and back room) as well as kitchen and outdoor garden space. Renter will be responsible for all other rentals and caterers.
