Planning a wedding for an expansive guest list of out of town friends and families was daunting task. We wanted an elegant venue, in a prime location that would make our guests feel welcome. The groom's had extensive family arriving from England and the brides relatives resided in Mexico. Rather than leave the task of finding lodging to the guests, we opted for the Hyatt Regency in downtown Houston as the epicenter of the event. We received an event coordinator and planner to help us navigate the amazing, but overwhelming choices Hyatt had to offer. We loved the downtown location, which was easier to navigate for those not familiar with Houston and the hotel offered our guests discounted room rates. The bride and groom were given a complimentary guestroom with champagne for the wedding night that was absolutely spectacular. Both bride and groom were able to prepare for the wedding on site without having to worry about getting stuck in traffic or being late to their own special day. As for the venue itself, we were given a spectacular ballroom for the reception which was expertly decorated. The lights and music were a hit. The “Wedding Specialist†we were assigned helped us find the bride's favorite flowers and use them in gorgeous take home centerpieces. We especially loved the numerous choices for food. We had a ton of picky eaters on both sides and wanted to provide a meal that appealed to both cultures. The Hyatt Regency helped us provide the perfect meal for our guests. The only issue we had was getting our guests to leave the main reception hall at the end of the night. The space was so perfect; many were not ready to end the party at the 2am closing time. Luckily, with the preferred room rates, the parties were able to continue upstairs.
