I loved having my wedding at the Arizona Renaissance Festival! Unlike the traditional "white wedding" that most couples seem to choose, mine was unique, fun, and created positive memories for everyone involved. No one was bored, not even the small children who attended. The food was fantastic and the entertainment even better! We toasted with mead instead of champagne and our good friend and pastor married us in a "Friar Tuck" costume. At least 80% of the guests came in medieval attire, including the wedding party. Although not required, I found that people really loved "getting into character" and felt more a part of this wedding than they have at others. I admit, as with most weddings, not everything went according to plan. But the venue itself was festive and the employees I worked with were helpful. Even with a few kinks, the day turned out to be beautiful and eventful - one that my guests will never forget! From the architecture and general atmosphere to the play actors that escorted us to the joust tournament, my wedding ended up being fun for everyone, especially since once the wedding was over, the guest were set loose to wander the fair with admission already prepaid. The package was priced fairly and we really got our money's worth! Cheaper than a traditional wedding, yet 100 times more exciting! If you're trying to think of a way to get your guests excited about your big day and you don't want anybody yawning, then skip the church in favor for the lovely outdoors and the DJ in favor of a lively joust!
