1838 Michael B. Menard Property
Grounds of the Historic Menard Complex, which also includes the 1838 Michel B. Menard House, Yard, Gazebo and detached Menard Hall. Galveston’s oldest home, the Greek revival Michel B. Menard House provides an intimate setting. The house, built in 1838, features furnishings that all date from the first half of the 19th century (1800-1850s). They are of the federal, empire, regency, Biedermeier, and William IV styles, as interpreted by American, English, French and German artisans. Carpets, drapes and upholstery fabrics are reproductions appropriate for the period 1830-1850. Outside, grand ionic columns provide a backdrop for photos. Shaded by stately live oaks, the landscaped grounds and gazebo also are available for outdoor functions.
The Menard Hall provides the 60’ round tables and natural wood chiavari chairs with crème cushions. The hall seats approximately 80 guests and offers a small dance floor. There is a residential style kitchen and the venue is wheel chair accessible for entrance and restrooms. With any of our venues you are welcome to provide your linens, décor, floral, entertainment, food & alcoholic beverages, which will assist greatly with your event planning creativity and financial obligation.
