My husband Frank and I had a beautiful, sunset wedding in the mountains of central Virginia at DelFosse Winery and Vineyard. We decided to have the wedding there in order to be close to his family (he grew up in Charlottesville, which is just a few miles north) and we are both wine lovers. After touring (and, of course, tasting) at several wineries in the area, we settled on DelFosse because of its private, attractive location. We were also impressed by the value DelFosse offered in comparison to other wineries. The wine at DelFosse is superb. We were able to select the wines we wanted served at our wedding with the help of the winemaker himself, which was a real treat. Our favorite was the Reserve d'Oriane, a luscious white wine with citrus notes named after the winemaker's daughter. We selected a number of cheeses to go along with the excellent wine, including a gouda made from goat's milk. The dinner was also an excellent value, served up by some very talented chefs! All in all, the decision making process was easy once we chose our venue, because everything we were offered was quite good. It took a lot of stress out of the planning. The day of our wedding was gorgeous, and our wedding party enjoyed a beautiful sunset next to the creek that runs alongside the tasting room. The tasting room also serves as an elegant, naturally-lit dining room with its eastern facing wall made up entirely of clear glass. Before leaving for our honeymoon, we enjoyed a night at the well appointed cottage overlooking the vineyard. An unforgettable experience provided by their generous and attentive staff. I highly recommend them.
