Wonderful place for a birthday party!! - An Eventective User from Durham, NC

I had my father’s 80th birthday party here and it was fabulous!! The coordinator Lauren went out of her way to make my experience a pleasant one. She stayed on top of all the things that needed to be taken care of and was available for questions at all times. Everyone, including my dad, had a very good time. I highly recommend this place.

Education and Fun at its Best - An Eventective User from Raleigh, NC

I love this place! Love it, love it. The museum is my go-to place to take people when they visit from out of town because there is literally something for all ages. They have an amazing butterfly house and bug house, and they will let the kids touch some of the bugs and hold the butterflies on their fingers when they release them. The playground and water areas are always a huge hit with the kids if you take them during the summer. They have an indoor play area that is set up like a little town, with some very detailed play pretend toys. There is a space area inside and a place where they can see bears and sail small remote controlled sail boats, so it was a perfect spot to please my difficult and picky boys. But when it comes to birthday parties you can make the kids feel really special by going for the themed parties so they get attention from a museum worker and get to do a special educational activity. My only real complaints are that you are only allowed to be in the party room for an hour for standard party and an hour and a half for the themed parties. Also I think that it is a rather steep price jump to add on a theme, which is what I feel a party at a museum is all about! The discount on train rides is really helpful, though, and they have a good discount for members. For the parent who would like to have everything covered, they can supply the cake, the pizza, the clean up, and even the gift bags- but for a price of course. The kids loved it, and I would definitely do it all over again if they would let me!
