Fonthill is a rare American castle that is now a museum and National Historic Landmark. It is located on several acres of park land. It has a long, tree lined driveway that acts as a dramatic entrance as your guests arrive. As they drive up, they cross over a small stream and the large castle comes into view. Having your wedding at Fonthill is incredibly easy. So many decisions are already made for you, that you do not get stuck in an “analysis paralysis” that can plague many brides. You can have your ceremony and reception in the same location, so your guests don't have to spend time traveling between two locations. That is especially helpful if one or both parties are not from that area. Cocktail hour is served on a lovely ceramic tile encrusted balcony overlooking the castle and gardens. On the grounds close to the castle, there is a semi-permanent, elegant tent that has a large dance floor. The tent acts as the reception location, and a fallback to where the ceremony can be held should the weather not be cooperating. And wedding photos can be taken anywhere on the grounds with the result being picturesque and lovely. There is only one caterer available for this location. They have an extensive menu and serving options that will not leave you wanting. The caterer offers numerous tasting parties throughout the year so you can plan your menu. The only downfall to the location is that there is no place for the bridal party to freshen up away from the crowd. Also, overnight accommodations in Doylestown can be hard to come by for large groups, but there are large hotels available a town or two away.
