The horse paddocks and fields adjacent to the Greenhouse, Arena and Paddock House feature dramatic 360-degree mountain views. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains which rise 3300’ above sea level to the west and southwest, Mount Fair is located at the entrance to Brown’s Cove which runs between the Blue Ridge and Pigeon Top Mountain to the north and east. Each field and paddock offers a different perspective, depending upon season and time of day. Our hay fields offer the most open and remote views but require mobile infrastructure to provide bathroom and catering kitchen, given their distance from farm facilities.

Measuring 14’ x 37’ (518 sq. ft) it is surrounded by two acres of flower, fruit and vegetable gardens, laid out in an English Garden style, which provides an extraordinary setting for spring, summer and autumn events. Large dinners and weddings have been hosted on the greenhouse terrace, which sits between two lawn panels on which our Tidewater Sailcloth Tents (20’x 37’ = 660 sq. ft) may be placed by Virginia Tent Rental, accommodating up to 120 seated guests. Our indoor riding arena was designed by renowned architect, Mark Finlay who, over the past fifteen years has designed or redesigned each structure on the farm, creating a consistent theme throughout our property. Measuring 92’ x 164’, the arena provides over 15,000 square feet of interior space, and features stained wood beams which rise 40’ above the floor, supporting the roof without interior columns.
The interior roof and walls are finished with stained wood and the floor is covered with a specially designed equestrian footing. For the safety and health of our horses, events hosted in the arena require installation of wood flooring over utilized areas. The size of the interior space provides for significant flexibility in program. Ample parking exists along the oak-lined drive fronting the arena and, if necessary, valet parking can be easily accommodated with multiple satellite locations within short walking distance of the arena.
