I recently had the absolute pleasure of ordering a gift basket for an ill relative from Shonnard's florist and nursery. Being new to the area I relied heavily on word of mouth to find out a business that was trusted and valued in the community. By a great majority, everyone recommended Shonnard's. Firstly, the location itself is intoxicating. Just touring the nursery and potted plant sections introduces you to so many exotic beauties that it's nearly impossible to make a selection. Thankfully the staff is both attentive and helpful. They helped me pick out the Pink European Garden Bouquet which started at around eighty dollars, but was a show stopper. Plus, most of the flowers that make up their arrangements are grown on site, so the staff is very knowledgeable about their care. The gift I purchased started with a high quality handled basket that was filled with a variety of gorgeous individually potted plants all artfully arranged.(This way the recipient is able to add their gift to their garden if they chose.) The focal point of the basket I chose was a tall, magenta spotted phalaenopsis orchid surrounded by a mix of fancy african violets, pretty pink clusters of kalanchoe and variegated philodendrons. All in all I thought it was very beautiful, so did my hospitalized relative who received it. It even continued to be beautiful for weeks on end with very little care. Now that she has recovered most of the plants have been repotted into decorative containers around her home. I would be happy to recommend Shonnard's to anyone looking for cut flowers, potted plants, decorative garden accessories and everything in between.
