As we exit the kitchen and continue through the dining room, it takes us to the Alumni Association Board of Directors Solarium which benefits from much natural light drawn in by the large windows overlooking the large backyard and gardens. This is a great place for a meeting or dinner for 36. The room has a brick and limestone fireplace named in honor of Sigma Delta Phi Sorority along with a large tilt out stained-glass window.

As you enter the foyer into the Charles A. Gibson Reception Hall, you are overcome with old style woodwork and craftsmanship. The Reception Hall has three style of wood consisting of white oak molding, quartered white oak flooring, mahogany raised panels and plaster and lathe with painted stretched canvas over top. The Reception Hall honors Mr. Gibson whose generosity and thoughtfulness created the opportunity for the Alumni Association to acquire the Parks Alumni House. The stereo system in the House was a gift from Norm ’57 and Joan Lombardi Pec ’56.

Through the French glass doors we enter the Living Room, named in honor Judy Wright ’65 and Max Levine. This room houses a player baby grand piano (one of the many antiques and furnishings donated by the Levines) and Stickley furniture donated by the Arethusa Sorority. The walls of this room are covered by a mauve-colored fabric with a French lace border. The fireplace honors the Alpha Kappa Phi/Agonian, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Sigma Rho Sorority for its generosity. The gold couch is an original piece donated by Jean Biddle.

Straight ahead is the Nu Sigma Chi-Class of 1968 Dining Room. The dining room can serve 18 people. The three sideboards are original Wickwire furnishings. The furniture is a gift of Genevieve Burhans Barden ’60 in memory of her sister Marie Burhans Dodge ’56 (Nu Sigma Chi).

This room honors the Goodale family for their many graduates from SUNY Cortland and their connection to the community. The library is decorated with Stickley furniture donated by Marjorie Dey Carter ’50. The wood in this room comes from the Caspian Sea area and it is called Circassian Walnut.

As you proceed to the basement of the House, you enter the Jean M. Dunlavey ’64 Pub which offers many options ranging from hosting business meetings to small dinners and special events. This room has all the up-to-date technology (gift of the class of 1956) and functional furniture (gift of the class of 1955) that offers a lot of flexibility and options for set-ups. It has old world charm with white oak walls and stained-glass windows and a beautiful cement fireplace with brick inlay and oak mantel. What’s the square hole in the wall for? A bar of course which bears the name of the Lambda Phi Delta Fraternity. The fireplace is named in honor of the class of 1967.
