I recently attended a wedding at the University Club in Chicago and the first thing you notice when you walk in the building is the impressive historic designs. The weddings are set in the cathedral rooms, which is this vastly high ceilinged room, with stain glass, the most opulent settings imaginable, and above all a attention to detail that is out of this world. The most noticeable element of the venue is the service and the food. The people wait on you hand and foot, and while you may feel a little out of place, or under dressed here, it's a very special venue for a wedding. The result is flawless and luxurious, if that's the intention of the wedding. Another thing to note is the amazing location of the venue, being situated right near Michigan Avenue. On the nine floors, the wedding guests can even go up and see amazing views of Chicago. While it will be expensive and difficult to rent out the whole place, the service provided for weddings is top notch and something to experience for yourself. The Chef in service used to work at the four seasons, Chef Baker, and cooks world class dishes for guests. I particularly loved the French onion soup, which is believed to be the best in the city. All in all this is probably the best venue to have a wedding in the whole of the city. Enjoy the service, enjoy the food, enjoy the amazing historic monument that is the University Club of Chicago.
We had a beautiful wedding at the University Club last August. The Club is members only but we received a sponsorship and were able to offer our out-of-town guests rooms (for a great rate). Staff assisted with handing out our welcome bags. Following a cocktail hour, our guests were directed upstairs for dinner and dancing. The reception space was large and afforded breathtaking views of Millenium Park and downtown Chicago. We worked along with our wedding planner to create our menu and the staff made sure no detail was missed. The location was ideal for our guests. Right off Michigan and across from Millenium Park and some museums, our guests were able to explore the city. The morning after our wedding, we hosted a brunch on the rooftop. Again, the staff proved to be spectacular. I'd recommend couples look at this space for an elegant evening in an historic space.
