Our hotel’s namesake, Timothy Blackstone, was a curator himself, donating The Blackstone Hall to The Art Institute of Chicago. The historic Art Hall continues to support his endeavors by featuring a rotating exhibit of local Chicago artists. Beautifully restored to its original grandeur, the exquisite foyer encompasses classic architecture with sculptural details of paint brushes and palettes throughout the design. The history of The Blackstone and the near lingering aura of its past patrons can truly be felt when you step into The Barbershop. Named for its original purpose, this distinguished space has served the likes of Richard Nixon and Al Capone, and offers 1,117 square-feet of palatial event space laden in marble, with suspended ceilings and Greek columns. From presidents to notorious figures—channel these powerful personalities when you host business and corporate events in our Barbershop room.

The largest of The Blackstone's nine function rooms, this 3,400-square-foot space is an awe-inspiring example of Beaux-Arts interiors. Featuring historic millwork and sculptural details, the two-tiered room boasts soaring 21-foot ceilings and a bevy of elegant chandeliers. Adding to the grandeur, natural light pours through windows that face Michigan Avenue and Grant Park, complementing the pristine white walls and jeweled blue carpet. A premier venue for special events and conferences, the stunning Crystal Ballroom has held many esteemed events in history, such as a 30 second press conference by former President Jimmy Carter and the infamous Al Capone scene from "The Untouchables".
