I recently held a small group meeting at the Public - Chicago. This is a newly opened remodel of an older hotel, and the interior and hotel staff have really reinvigorated the property. Our meeting room was on the top floor of the hotel, with large windows. It really got our creative juices flowing! We had catering delivered to the room for lunch, and everything was great. The menus were not the typical hotel meeting room fare - they used super fresh ingredients and were healthy! Prices were reasonable considering the downtown Chicago location. All requests were handled professionally. The decor of the property and meeting room provides an 'all white' look. Everyone in our group felt that this blank slate helped us customize our experience. By the end of the day, we had post-its and flip charts all over the room. Hotel guestrooms are very modern and not overall conducive to working long periods of time. Internet access is included in both the guest room and lobby, so most of our attendees chose to bring their laptops downstairs to the coffee bar and work - perhaps due to the impractical desk chairs? Overall, I would highly recommend The Public - Chicago for a small meeting. Our group plans on returning for our next event!
This place was a decent wedding place abut it wasn't perfect. On a scale to 1-10 I would give it 8. The food was very good. The price was very reasonable. I did not mind paying the bill on my wedding day because the price was good. Another thing that was very great about that place was the environment. That place was very clean and comfortable. So overall I enjoyed my wedding and so did my wife. My guest also enjoyed it overall. It might been better that day if the workers just smiled a little bit more. I would recommended this place to anybody for the value.
