The Center on Halsted doesn't seem like it would be a great place for having meetings, but this brand new LGBT center actually provides modern meeting facilities, from small to large, for any need at reasonable prices. For a small conference room with up to date technologies, our organization paid less than thirty dollars for a comfortable, efficient space. We came, we left and that was that. The friendly staff helped any of us find our way, even though the building is simple and that didn't happen to many of us. We had the room for three hours and had absolutely no issues. If you're looking for something on a larger scale, for more of a presentation with audience input, they do have a theater that can be rented out for a very reasonable price. Be careful though and do request the space in advance, it can be in high demand depending on what projects are floating around at the time. The theater room holds around 80 people and is also up to date on technology so any sort of presentation can be given. If tables need to be set up, there is the space to do so. If you need something on the VERY large scale, there is a gymnasium that can also be used for large gathering. You will have to do some setting up, of course, but often times the Center provides any needed chairs or tables at no extra cost. For this space, once again, be sure to plan ahead and request in advance. The gymnasium is often converted into various sorts of venues for fundraisers, galas, presentations and the like. If it doesn't look like what you need it to look like for the meeting, they give you the freedom to non-permanently alter the space to fit whatever mood you are looking for.
