The Butterfly House offers three ceremony sites outside in the lush Butterfly Garden. Our most popular site, the Monsanto Pavilion, seats up to 120 guests. This stone pillar pavilion sits on the uppermost level of our gardens. For larger weddings, up to 150 guests may be seated at the Emerson Lakeside Terrace. The Terrace overlooks the lake next to the Butterfly House, and it sits next to both the butterfly Conservatory and our garden. Of course, after your wedding ceremony, all guests may enter the Conservatory to see our beautiful butterflies in free flight.
Wedding ceremonies may take place at the following times:
A 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (10:30 am or 11:00 am ceremony start time)
B 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (1:30 pm or 2:00 pm ceremony start time)
*4:00 pm – 6:00 pm slot might be available June through August
The facility rental fee for either time is $1,500. This includes:
Semi-private use of the Butterfly Garden area for two hours (for your ceremony, pictures, etc.)
Ceremony rehearsal
“Day of” Butterfly House Coordinator
Complimentary admission for wedding guests

The Pavilion will be used for your ceremony site, but the Lakeside Terrace will now be transformed into your reception space. All of the following information is in regards to the ceremony and reception package, including the pricing information listed below. This package is ideal for smaller celebrations of up to 120 guests.
After your ceremony, guests can have a cocktail in the garden and enter the Conservatory to see thousands of beautiful butterflies in free flight. Dinner is served on the Emerson Lakeside Terrace – a partially covered area that overlooks the lake next to the Butterfly House and sits next to both the Conservatory and the native butterfly garden. The Butterfly House contracts with several Saint Louis area caterers, who will work with you to make your reception a success. Our caterers provide a wide selection of menu options, wedding packages, and price ranges.
This package is offered from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (with a 10:30 am ceremony start time).
Our facility rental fee for both a ceremony and reception is $1,650 Monday through Thursday $2,200 for Friday through Sunday. This fee is non-refundable. This package is available on Saturday or Sunday.
An additional hour may be available to add on for a fee of $500 per hour.

Receptions are held after public hours, in a 5 hour timeframe, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The maximum seated capacity on the Emerson Lakeside Terrace is 80 guests (Buffet) or 100 guests (Plated Dinner) or 120 guests (cocktail style).
Our facility rental fee for both a ceremony and reception is $2,900 for Friday through Sunday. It is $2,100 Monday through Thursday. This fee is non-refundable.
An additional hour is available to add on for a fee of $500 per hour.
