On two occasions over the past year I have been fortunate enough to have assisted with coordinating events at the Sheraton Chapel Hill (NC). In both instances I found their event management staff to be more than merely cooperative; they bent over backward to ensure that all of our needs were met no matter how often we amended our order and how late in the game that happened. I worked with Dionne Apple each time, and she was incredibly helpful. No matter how many times I requested updated Banquet Event Orders and/or Rooming Lists, Dionne cheerfully and efficiently responded. The hotel is set up so that the meeting spaces and restaurants are completely segregated from guest rooms, which makes it very nice for guests where noise level is concerned. Guest rooms were clean and comfortable. During both conferences we had one or more on-site meals and the food and service were both very good. The catering staff was responsive and the menus varied. Comprehensive audio-visual services were available (at extra cost, obviously), and the hotel was extremely cooperative in assisting us with signage both that which we posted on our own and that which the hotel could provide (electronic in the lobby and outside meeting rooms). The Sheraton Chapel Hill was very reasonable when it came to letting us arrive on site early to set up rooms and prepare our registration area. They skirted all tables for us and had staff available to install whatever banners we were displaying. Additionally, they let us have a poster display area and actually tape materials to the walls. The hotel's flexibility was stellar. On the last day of one of the events with which I was involved our guests were unable to leave due to inclement weather. The hotel responded in a way that was above and beyond the call of duty and ensured all of our guests had accommodations and even provided rooms for us to hold follow-up meetings and for our guests to use as temporary offices to conduct business. All in all, a very positive experience.
