Last year my fiance and I decided to get married near Boston. We had both grown up in the city and knew that our families would appreciate us staying close to home (we went to college in California and considered getting married on the Santa Monica peer). During our search for the perfect location we struggled to find a venue that we felt really expressed who we were. We were just having a hard time connecting to any of the spaces offered. Towards the end of our search we came across Hampshire House in Beacon Hill. Right from the start we loved the space, the people, and the overall vibe that we got when we walked through the door. We were surprised at how reasonable the prices were and how affordable the whole reception turned out to be. Needless to say, we felt as though we were really getting a lot for our money and that our planning time was minimal. We decided to go with the Hampshire House and are extremely glad that we made that decision. The decorations were awesome and each table was individually appointed with it's own little running shoe floral display (we both run marathons and incorporating that element of our lives into the wedding was incredibly important). The wedding planner at Hampshire House helped us to organize the ceremony with vendors that she trusted. We were really pleased with everyone expect the D.J. He was a little pricey and played some borderline inappropriate songs. Things that I was worried my grandmother might understand. But, everyone else who she suggested was perfect. Everything went off without a hitch. It was a magical day. Personally, I think the best part of the whole experience was the wedding itself, but, my husband and my guests thought the food took the cake!
My husbands cousin got married in Boston at the Hampshire House almost two years ago and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to. The Hampshire House is a Bostonian Mansion in the Beacon Hill District and is a very popular meeting place or special events. The cost to rent the house was quite high but a lot came with it so that value was actually pretty good. They were able to have the ceremony and the reception at the same place which makes it easy for them and for the guests to not have to go to another site. The service at the house was wonderful. The staff really know how to host a wedding and they were there for our every need. The options for the photographer were great as there were many great spots to do wedding photos. There were about a hundred people at the reception and there was plenty of room for everyone. The food was amazing. There are several different options depending on how much money you would like to spend. There were tasty Hors d'Oeuvres and a campaign toast along with a amazing sit down meal. The wedding went off without a hitch thanks to the capable staff and I would highly recommend the site to anyone. There were tons of amenities including help with planning your big day and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. It is a beautiful site in the great city of Boston. I loved having the opportunity to have some time to spend at this beautiful and classy location.
Amazing, amazing views and ambience, complimented by prompt, nice, staff, and (overly generous) bartenders. The gentleman brought me here for his company's holiday party and it was an amazing night. The food was incredible - they even went so far as to a separate buffet for vegan employees (though with one little snafu - they put a cheese plate out, sort of awkward). The chefs and servers bent over backwards to keep people happy, to answer questions for people with allergies, and to keep everyone's plates full. There is a concierge that greets guest at the main lobby and directs them to the top floor. The main area has 2 levels. The top level is used as a check in area where servers provide hors' dourves and beverages. A bar with a seating area is available. Guest are transitioned to the main area for dining. There is an area for a band and an additional bar. The view of the bay is spectacular. Food is amazing from hors' dourves to dinner. Servers cater to guest. Overall everyone was fantastic - even the coat check people were cheerful (hard to imagine given that they were dealing with several hundred very intoxicated guests). For those of you who like to drink, I will also point out that the bartenders have VERY HEAVY hands. I decided to take a once a year drink and asked for a cocktail very light on (like half shot) of vodka. I watched the bartender pour a full cup of vodka and top it off with a touch of juice. If I was one of the other guests I probably would have been over the moon. Being me I had to put it down before I could even taste it - I'm too much of a lightweight, the smell alone got me loaded. Overall, a great venue - first class all the way - the views and the ambiance are incomparable!
