Sacred Heart, located in downtown Augusta, Georgia, is a beautiful historic church. The gorgeous architecture and ambiance make it perfect for any wedding. It's one of the most elegant places to get married in the city. The staff there is extremely helpful and accommodating. While my wedding a few snafus (the best man getting drunk, my flower girl crying down the aisle), everything about Sacred Heart was perfect. Don't be fooled by the exterior, Sacred Heart isn't a Catholic church. It's a cultural center. This means that weddings are open to all denominations. Being a Baptist, I was at first afraid we wouldn't be allowed to get married there but they take everyone. Sacred Heart also has a full kitchen that is open for any caterer's to use, though it's not the kind of kitchen your caterer is going to want to prepare a meal from scratch in. Since my aunt and grandmother were doing the food for my wedding, this took a little extra planning out, but everything turned out great! If I remember correctly, Sacred Heart fits around 400 or 500 people. Since so many places in Augusta are geared towards smaller groups, I was relieved to find this place. Both my now husband and I come from large families, include friends, business associates, guests or guests, children, and the like and I knew we just weren't going to fit into a smaller venue. Thank God we found Sacred Heart. They made our special day wonderful!
