My wedding at Carl House was absolutely amazing! I loved the setting of the house, which is very elegant and fancy, yet is casual enough to make your destination wedding more comfortable. The traditional gardens on the estate give a "southern" feel to the plantation, along with the assortment of antique furnishings inside the home. The pasture land and gardens that encompass the house are lovely, but pale in comparison to the interior of Carl House. The house has been completely restored and has several new additions, such as the mezzanine and the third floor, but they have all been built to match the look of the historic home. The exquisite ballroom inside is a great reception room, and we made great use of the covered porches all around the house during our reception too. I think my favorite part of my "Carl House Experience" was the event staff. We let them know ahead of time roughly what we would like to do for the weekend, and they handled the rest! My family and I felt like guests, not the wedding planners. Also, the food was cooked to perfection, and had a good presentation when served. My wedding at Carl House was a little pricey, but my experience there was priceless! I couldn't have asked for a more memorable wedding!
We had our wedding at The Carl House, and I was extremely pleased with the entire event. the Carl House is located on GA-29 (Athens Highway), and was purchased by a man who drove past it frequently to UGA games from the Atlanta area. The Carl House offers many packages available to people who have a strict budget, and a la carte for the more specific people. A wedding director is also provided for you, should you need one. They have a beautiful smaller room upstairs, great for a rehearsal dinner, or a small, intimate wedding or reception. the larger ball room is mostly white, and has a two-story ceiling. There is a gorgeous old-fashioned stairway that curves around, allowing you to come down on either side of the room. The stairway rails boasted a nice garland when we were there, and we were able to add our own flowers and bows to it. They have what were bedrooms turned into the men's and ladies' rooms for preparing beforehand, and the sweetest little room for the couple to dine privately and enjoy chilled champagne (because you won't get to eat later) while the large room is quickly flipped from rows of chairs to tables around the dance floor. Out back, there is a small bridge leading to a perfect garden for pictures or even an outdoor ceremony. We had great customer service while we were there, and would recommend this to anyone looking for a wedding (or anniversary or fancy birthday) venue!
