When my wife and I were engaged we began the often long and arduous process of searching for that perfect place that would make our wedding day the truly special day it should be. We planned to be married in the Albany, NY area and looked at over a dozen venues from Saratoga, to Schenectady to Albany and Troy. We saw places that ranged from glitzy and glamorous to simple and plain, and while there were a few that caught our eye initially, we soon decided that the Appel Inn in Altamont was pretty much perfect. Two years later, looking back on our experience with the Appel Inn, we couldn't be happier with the decision we made. First, and most obvious when you first visit the Inn, the place is beautiful and exudes all the welcoming charm of an idealistic New England bed and breakfast or historical site. The area is somewhat wooded, with old and noble trees scattered about the grounds, and there are a number of gardens planted with a variety of flowers so that no matter what week of the spring or summer, something is sure to be in full bloom. There is also a meandering brook that sits just behind the area available for an outdoor ceremony. While the grounds and the facility are beautiful and are sure to meet your needs for a wedding of up to 150 guests, it is the owner, Laurie, that is the real gem, and the reason we would unhesitatingly recommend the Appel Inn to any couple looking for a venue for their wedding. Laurie has hosted hundreds of weddings and is full of helpful advice on everything from decorations to photographers or caterers that she has worked with in the past. She functions as almost a no-charge wedding planner who's' only goal is to make sure that you and your family have the special (and stress free!) wedding that you deserve. If you're looking to get married in the Albany, NY area take a look at the Appel Inn - you won't be disappointed!
