Towering trees surround the Lawrence Chapel, built of ancient local stone
and perched on a knoll in rural Town of Catharine in Schuyler County, NY.
Inside, guests sit under soaring wooden beams. Stained glass windows
throw shimmers of colored light across the floors, adding to the serenity of
this historic setting. The non-denominational Chapel was built by the
Lawrence family in 1880 to honor their ancestors and to give their
neighbors a place to worship, celebrate and gather as a community. To this
day, the Chapel evokes both solemnity and joy. Original wooden pews can
seat up to 120 guests. The altar pieces are also original. The Schuyler
County Historical Society is honored to be the caretaker of the Lawrence
Chapel and is committed to offering the Chapel as a place that everyone
may enjoy. The Chapel is available for weddings and other private and
public events.
Special Features:
Non denomination. Available for weddings concerts and other activites as appropriate to the site. The chapel setting is in a wooded area.
